I started cutting hair in Milan when I was nineteen — six years apprenticing in a salon off Corso Como before I came to New York for what I thought would be a season. Six years on Madison Avenue later, I opened Studio Lume because I wanted to do hair the way I’d been taught: slowly, with one client in front of me at a time, and with products I’d actually put in my own hair.
The studio has three chairs. That number is on purpose. It means I see every consult, I check every color, and nobody walks out with something I haven’t looked at twice. We use Davines and Oway — Italian, plant-based, B Corp. We don’t carry sulfate shampoos. We don’t double-book. And if I don’t think a service is right for your hair that day, I’ll tell you and we’ll figure out what is.

What if I'm running late?
Text the studio at (718) 555-7321 — fifteen minutes is fine, we’ll work around it. After fifteen, we may need to reschedule depending on the next appointment. We don’t charge a late fee for a first offense.Do you take a deposit?
Only for color services over $250 (50% deposit, refundable up to 48 hours before). Cuts, blowouts, and treatments don’t require one.What's your cancellation policy?
Cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours ahead, no charge. Inside 24 hours we charge 50% of the service. Same-day no-shows are billed in full — but life happens, message us, we’re reasonable.I just had a bad cut/color elsewhere. Can you fix it?
Yes. Book a Color Correction consult (free, 20 min) before booking the service itself — we want to look at the hair in person, talk through what’s possible, and quote you honestly. Sometimes the answer is ‘wait six weeks.’ We’ll tell you.What products do you use?
Davines (B Corp, Italian, plant-based), Oway (organic), K18 and Olaplex for bonding. Ammonia-free color whenever the formula allows. We don’t carry sulfate shampoos or silicone-heavy stylers.Can I bring my kid / partner / friend?
Of course — we have one extra chair and a small bookshelf. We just ask that under-fives are with another adult so we can focus on the hair.
